nra Basics of pistol shooting

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation and is available for delivery in three ways.

  • One option is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end.

  • The second option has two components, scheduled online classes led by an NRA instructor and a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range.

  • The third option also has two components: a self-study or “eLearning module” which is completed online in your own time-frame and a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an Instructor.

Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor.

HB-1143 & I-1639 training

Currently Washington State law requires proof of firearms safety training meeting the requirements from HB-1143 & I-1639 to purchase or transfer any firearm.  This curriculum is currently included as a bonus to our Basics of Pistol Shooting classes.  It is also available as an add-on for the Home Firearm Safety class.

Range Buddy

Looking to go to the range but nervous about breaking the rules, or don’t know what to expect.  Going to the range for the first time can feel overwhelming, going with an experienced buddy is a great way to put those worries to rest.

As a range buddy I will meet with you before hand on Zoom, we will discuss what it’s like going to the range for the first time and what gear is necessary.  Then we will meet at the range, go through the check-in process, and head out onto the range.  Once there we will do a basic review, discuss what to expect in the shooting bay and how the equipment operates.  Then we will get down to some basic instruction.  The experience is kept fun, friendly, and relaxed.  We are there to have a good time, remove the scariness of the unknown, and prepare you for solo range trips.

Prices vary depending on level of instruction needed, if you are using your own gear or mine, and the amount of time you want to spend on the range.  Maximum group size of 2 to maintain an appropriate level of instruction.
